I ran across this great article yesterday and thought why not highlight it on my own site. it’s a great read, and Hongkiat is on of the best design sites online. Error 404 pages are now a place to show your creativity when things go wrong, like I did. Whether you have a broken link on your site or your visitors happened to come from a site that incorrectly hyperlinked your site; they are likely to land on an error page. If this error page is properly handled, the visitor will be reading an Error 404 page which is all the rage now-a-days to have custom designed.

Though sometimes you cannot control the cause of error page, but you can minimize the damages by using a custom Error 404 page. The page can serve to educate, encourage visitors to re-search, display related information a visitor might be interested in or even redirecting them back to main page.
